ART FOR EVERYONE,

URBAN SPACE FOR ALL

“Haring wanted to break down the barriers that often separate art from the general public”

ART FOR

EVERYONE SERIES

It was Keith Haring who said, "Art is for everybody."

After his passing, 34 years later, his influence has created a movement that has exploded into the lexicon of street culture and is now a permanent fixture throughout cities everywhere.

Haring wanted to break down the barriers that often separate art from the general public, and he did so by bringing his work into the streets, subways, and public spaces. His philosophy was grounded in the idea that art could and should be a part of everyday life, accessible to all people regardless of their background or socioeconomic status.

When we started City Blocks, we wanted to launch an initiative and platform that continued what Keith built bringing art to public spaces, with street furniture. Around the world urban artists take to the streets to share their work with us, painting the inspiring backdrops to our lives in the spaces we all share.

Art for everyone is our commitment to promoting urban art in public spaces, colliding the worlds of street art and street furniture. Follow along here as we share stories, profiles and art on City Blocks internationally.

With clashing undertones of classical figuration and abstraction inspired by each heritage—topics of family, culture and community are tackled and emphasized in an energetic blend. This assembly of knowledge based on human values constitutes all of our work.

WKNDRS is created and cultivated by Rachel Rivera and Claire Ouchi. Fueling our passion for art, design and spreading positive vibes to the world. Key themes that are ever present in our collaborative work include unorthodox, light and playful aesthetics where colour plays an effervescent role. Our goal is to translate unique art and design concepts into real, tangible experiences guaranteed to make a lasting impact for brands, businesses, residential, hospitality and commercial spaces.

We look to question and push the boundaries of where art can be created and seen, everything is a canvas. We strive to connect with the community through artistic endeavours and make art and design accessible to all. Let's be excellent to each other and have a good time.

ARTIST BIO

Dinho Bento is a Brazilian artist residing in Ottawa. Active in street art since 2005, he has worked on dozens of artistic projects in several countries.

Dinho was born in a small town in Brazil. Since childhood, he had a deep connection with the culture and nature of the countryside. Later, this connection, combined with his training as an artist, led him to use, symbolically, the elements of nature and the human figure as the main starting points for discussing different themes. His approaches range from environmental discussions to deeper issues involving his feelings and spirituality.
