Neighbourhood Plaza
The South Granville BIA partnered with City Blocks Studio & MFG. to REIMAGINE THEIR neighborhood plaza to further stretch the imagination of CREATIVE public space projects in the South Granville NEIGHBOURHOOD.
The design intention was to implement a safe space for cyclists and pedestrians to share the plaza and reduce the amount of cyclist and pedestrian traffic collision incidents.
To achieve this, City Blocks brought forward the concept of extending the urban art mural by THE WKNDRS onto the plaza asphalt, which would clearly delineate a pedestrian-friendly area and a cyclist bike lane. In July 2023, the South Granville BIA, WKNDRS and City Blocks co-organized a community paint day to paint the plaza’s new asphalt art mural.
Matching the colors of the neighborhood plaza mural, people can stop and enjoy a street furniture pocket park installation designed and built by City Blocks, complete with our Pocket Blocks, Low Line Street Lounger and Highline Street Lounger,
